Description

The main function of the Medical diagnostic microbiology laboratory is to cultivate various samples of patients suspected of infection in order to investigate microorganisms, to identify the isolated species, test antibiotic susceptibility (AST) and to evaluate the serological samples for infectious diseases. These will help doctors to diagnose and treat infectious diseases. In the microbiology department of Payvand clinical and specialty laboratory, a well-trained scientists and technicians provided work with the last technologies available in the world to provide the best possible service.

Parasitology

In the parasitology section of Payvand laboratory, the specimens, in particular stool ,was used to examine and detect all types of parasites, including: parasites (worms) and protozoans (protozoa) in a direct smear, wet mount and concentration, as well as the preparation and coloring of slides from fresh samples (Permanent stained, (Direct Examination), (Fresh) permanent (Trichrome staining), especially for the detection of histological amoeba and etc.

Bacteriology

  • Detection of the species and genus of bacteria (BCS) and some non-fermentative gram-negative bacilli, and used French API Biomeriux diagnostic strips.
  • Has been Active in the field of mycology, sampling and detection of pathogenic fungi of skin and hair, insect studies such as Lice and Mite Scabolic. Which in terms of quality of work all tests has performed, and Work up in a complete diagnostic panel.

Spermogram

The test for sperm analysis has been done on everyday bases at Payvand clinical and Specialty laboratory. However, clients should be present at the laboratory from 8am to 13pm for sampling. Before testing and accepting the conditions, the expert responsible for this section will explain this test to the patient. The reason for determining the specific time of the Semen test by the personnel responsible for this test is to minimize the errors in the results of this test, and each sample should be checked immediately to be in a standard and desirable condition.

  • Extensive β-lactamase in gram-negative bacteria

This group of bacteria has related to third-generation cephalosporin antibiotics such as:

Ceftriaxone, Cefotaxime, Ceftazidime and mono-bactetes, such as Aztreonam, have gained drug resistance genes and are able to produce broad-spectrum β-lactam enzymes by expressing these genes. In Payvand laboratory, the species producing these enzymes (ESBLs) can be determined using antibiotics such as Ceftazidime, Cefotaxime and Cefpodoxime with and without inhibitors such as Clavulanic acid.
