FISH
Fluorescent In Situ Hybridization (FISH) is a technique in the field of genetics that makes it possible to directly detect and identify genes or sequences of DNA and RNA directly on the chromosome. In this regard, specific sequences are labeled with fluorescent materials for exploration. Among the advantages of this technique, in molecular biology and genetics area, it’s wide-ranging diagnostic applications in blood diseases, hematology, infectious diseases (viral, bacterial), hereditary and genetic diseases.
For this purpose, Payvand Clinical & Specialty Laboratory in the realization of its goals by utilizing novel tools and technology with the support of expert and efficient FISH department in order to make a contribution in diagnosis of diseases such as CLL, AML, ALL, MPNs, CML and Neuroblastoma, small-cell lung cancer, Breast cancer to help treat patients in this area.
In order to perform the FISH technique in Payvand laboratory, all FISH specimens received and registered depending on requirement; cell culture and harvesting process or only with basic culture medium. Preparation of the slide (3-4 slides) was performed after denaturation, hybridization and incubation with a specific probe for each abnormality and the washing steps. Finally, staining was performed in a cell study (200 cells count) at the interphase stage. Dozens of photos of cellular analysis according to probe pattern and written report to each the photos illustrated the patients of action.
Important indicators of FISH detection include:
- Implementation of quality management system in accordance with national and ISO standards (10002 + ISO 9001)
- Continuous monitoring of the quality of testing with regard to internal and external quality control (in some cases)
- Molecular testing speeds up to 24 hours in emergencies.
- Significant variation in experiments that is unique in the country and even in the region
- Employees with at least a master’s degree in related disciplines with the necessary knowledge and experience
- Applying world-class equipment and technology
