Guide to Hormone Blood Tests

  1. Thyroid Hormones
    • The patient should prefer fasting.

  2. Ferritin test
    • The patient should prefer fasting

    • Serum ferritin is not very reliable when the patient is being treated.
  3. Cortisol test
    • The patient should prefer fasting.
    • The sampling time is important if the doctor does not specify a specific time is the best 8 o'clock in the morning.

  7. Growth Hormone test
    • The patient should prefer fasting.
    • Samples are taken at specified times by the laboratory.
    • The patient should be completely relaxed during the sampling and is not allowed to leave the laboratory. It is not allowed to eat and drink and chew gum other than drinking water.

  2. Progesterone & Estradiol test

    • Pregnant women should specify the time of pregnancy.
    • The use of hormonal drugs such as clomiphene has an impact on the test result.
  3. 17 Hydroxyprogesterone test
    • The patient should prefer fasting.
    • The best serum sample is the early morning sample.
    • Do not take any steroid hormone in the urine sample at least 48 hours before sampling.
  4. Prolactin Test
    • The patient should prefer fasting.
    • Wear comfortable clothing 24 hours before testing. Do not wear tight, tight clothing in the chest or breast area.
    • You should refrain from sexual intercourse 24 hours prior to the test.
    • Avoid any breast examination 24 hours prior to the test.
    • Stress, exercise, pregnancy and a high protein diet can all affect the test result.
    • Sample should be taken, 4-3 hours after waking up.
  5. PTH test
    • It requires 12 hours of fasting for this test.
    • The best examples are those taken in the early hours of the morning.
    • The patient should be notified the Lab if he/she has worked overnight before.
