International AIDS day; The end of inequalities, the end of AIDS

December 1, 2021

Since 1988, December 1 has been designated World AIDS Day each year to raise budgets and raise awareness, education, and the fight against discrimination, with a special slogan for the day each year. The main purpose of this work is to remind the public that HIV is not gone and there is still a lot of work to be done.

With the onset of the CoVID 19 disease pandemic, the activity of diagnosing AIDS, like other systemic diseases, has decreased significantly, so holding World AIDS Day campaigns and applying support are given priority for the diagnostic centers to the resilience of HIV service and patients or people suspected of having the disease.

With this in mind, the theme for World AIDS Day 1400 is accompanied by the slogan “End Inequalities, End AIDS.”

Over the past year and this year, there have been plans to hold World AIDS Day campaigns. These campaigns reflect the experiences of people living with or affected by HIV (limited access to medicine and health care and economic hardships during the CoVID 19 epidemic) and convey their needs for continuing service in crisis situations.

Without bold action against inequalities, the world is in danger of losing its goals of ending AIDS by 2030, as well as a long-running epidemic of the Coronavirus and a spiraling social and economic crisis, although it is thought that in times of crisis like a CoVID 19 it is not a good time to prioritize the fight against social injustice, but it is clear that diseases like HIV cannot be overcome without doing so.

It has been years since the first cases of AIDS were reported, threatening the world and all countries. Today, in the face of global crises, organizations and countries around the world have moved away from implementing a common commitment to ending AIDS by 2030, not because of a lack of knowledge or tools to overcome AIDS, but because of structural problems that prevent it. It is one of the proven ways to prevent and treat HIV.
