Saving someone’s life is none other than a noble task. Being a doctor, he/she holds the responsibility for others’ life. Why not salute this noble profession?
National Doctor’s Day is celebrated in Iran on Shahrovar 1st every year, in honor of Avicenna (Ibn Sina), the greatest sage and physician of all time In Iran. It is a day dedicated to honoring the contributions and dedication of doctors toward the well-being and healthcare of society. On this day, people express their gratitude to doctors for their tireless efforts, compassion, and dedication toward saving lives and promoting well-being.
National Doctor’s Day holds immense significance in Iran as it provides an opportunity to express gratitude and appreciation to doctors who selflessly serve humanity. It serves as a reminder of the invaluable services rendered by doctors in diagnosing illnesses, providing treatment, and saving lives. The day aims to create awareness about the importance of healthcare and encourage people to acknowledge the efforts of doctors in promoting a healthier society.
Healthcare delivery and responsibility is changing. Patient-centered care is gaining international acceptance with the patient taking greater responsibility for his/her health and sharing decision making for the diagnosis and management of illness. Laboratory medicine must embrace this change and work in a tripartite collaboration with patients and with the clinicians who use clinical laboratory services.
Improve communication is key to this partnership, which includes providing information, support and training. Medical diagnostic laboratories may not be a full shareholder in tripartite cooperation, but they have the main supporting role in providing it. As a part of these services, medical diagnostic laboratories need to be flexible and provide more accessible services.
